A delegation of All Pakistan Clerks Association headed by Central President APCA, Mr. Nazar Hussain Korai, called on the Advisor to Prime Minister on Finance, Revenue, Economic Affairs and Statistics in Islamabad today. The delegation presented their Charter of Demands to the Advisor, containing suggestions regarding Budget 2009-10.
Advisor Finance stated during the meeting, that he was fully sympathetic to the delegation’s view that the pay structure of Government employees needed to be improved. He mentioned that the Government had already constituted a Pay & Pension Commission for the purpose. He assured the delegation that their suggestions and demands would be given compassionate consideration as the Government was determined to improve the lot of its employees, of which reasonable wages were an essential element.
He further laid out his vision for public sector compensation reform holding our a commitment that over time the pay structure of the public sector would be brought closer to the one prevailing in the private sector. A first step had been taken by appropriating monies in budget 2009-10 for compensation reforms in the public sector. Action would be initiated during the course of the next fiscal in the light of recommendations of the Pay & Pension Commission.
The delegation included Mr. Zafar Ali Khan, Provincial President APCA Punjab, Mr. Iftikhar Ahmed District President APCA Rawalpindi and Sardar Muhammad Hanif, SVP, APCA Rawalpindi and Raja Abdurauf Vice President APCA Rawalpindi.
