Sale of second hand computers on the rise
ISLAMABAD (October 09, 2009): The sale of second hand computers is on rise in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi because of high prices of new brand computers. The second hand computer stockholders selling monitors, mouse and other second hand accessaries at various shopping malls and corners of the provincial metropolis to attract the visitors. Shoppers are roaming the markets, checking out the varieties in different designs and quality.

TDAP to support P@SHA's Business Agenda for IT, ITES

STARR is a defective system, PAC told
ISLAMABAD (October 02, 2009): The Auditor General of Pakistan has observed that the Sales Tax Automated Refund Repository (STARR) computer system was grossly misused for issuance of illegal refunds in case of Bawan Shah Group of Companies, as STARR is unable to detect fake sales tax invoices.



Flawed STARR system blocks Rs 25.7 billion ST refunds
ISLAMABAD (September 30, 2009): The faculty objections raised by the Sales Tax Automated Refund Repository computer system'' (STARR) has blocked sales tax refunds of Rs 25.7 billion involved in 10,868 cases, reflecting serious technical problems in electronic refund processing system.



Promotion of IT need of the hour: Shahbaz
LAHORE (September 25, 2009): Punjab Chief Minister, Shahbaz Sharif has said that promotion of Information Technology (IT) is the need of the hour and government is implementing a comprehensive strategy in this regard. He said that an IT Park equipped with the latest facilities would be set up for the promotion of information technology in the province and maximum facilities would be offered to private sector engaged in this sector.

RAWALPINDI (September 19, 2009): The government should provide incentives and extend support to promote information technology to help improve the economy and foreign exchange reserves of the country," Syed Asad Mashhadi, President, Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said here on Friday.

Punjab Government, Ncomputing sign MoU to provide virtual desktop kits
LAHORE (September 18, 2009): The Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif has said that the Government of Punjab is working to make the province the hub of education and information technology. He was talking after signing of Memorandum of Understanding between the Punjab Government and Ncomputing at Chief Minister Secretariat here Thursday.
